
Cordillera Carabaya Expedition



The Carabaya is a rarely visited range a days travel from Cusco, located in the Department of Puno. The entrance to the range is through the town of Macusani, "The Alpaca capital of the world", this place is far off the beaten path and a great place to climb! There are peaks for all skill levels and wonderful scenery. An expedition here would be a minimum of 4 days roundtrip from Cusco.

The principal mountains of the range are Allincapac (5,837m) and Chichicapac (5,650m), both about AD/D climbs (intermediate level) and 4-5 days roundtrip from Cusco.


Then there are easy hiking peaks like Japuma (5,500m) or more technical options like Cornice, Tower and Screwdriver!
