Nevado Santa Catalina (La Mariposa) 5,842m 4D/3N

“La Mariposa” is an excellent climb with over 8 rope-lengths of solid snow climbing between 50 and 80 degrees on its north face. In Andean lore “Santa Catalina” is the oldest of the three daughters of Apu Ausangate. Due to its picturesque look from the south, likened to the shape of a butterfly, it is also known as “La Mariposa”. This peak can be climbed by the north face and then descended by the south directly to the Ausangate Base Camp by a strong party.
