Nevado Alpamayo is one of the more popular peaks in the Cordillera Blanca because of its status as “the most beautiful mountain in the world”. It is a good peak to get on some quality grade 3 ice for 400 meters of face climbing, the views of the other peaks in the northern part of the range are unforgettable. Alpamayo is better to go to earlier in the season when not many teams have been on the route yet. Alpamayo can be done in 5 days or 6 if you need a bit more acclimatization.
